Previous Journal: Autumn 2007

The Autumn 2007 Journal was mailed to members in mid September. The theme of this Journal      was primarily silversmiths' marks and among the contents were:

  • Thoughts about 'Grimwade", comments on the coverage and composition of this book

  • Marks Examined, including several reviewed following a visit to Goldsmiths' Hall

  • Articles on marks ascribed to London or Exeter; possible ascriptions to Chester; and other marks conundrums

  • Susanna Barker Revisited, a review of the latest knowledge about this premier woman silversmith

  • Notes and Queries section, with short pieces on several topics

  • Saleroom report, labels passing through the market recently

  • The Circle's Archive: the present contents

  • Book Update: a further update of 'Sauce Labels'

Also included with this Journal was a special Supplement entitled “Early English and French Enamel Labels”. Richard Wells skilfully differentiates between various ‘families’ of enamel labels, greatly enhanced by the extensive and fine full colour illustrations.
