Wine Labels 1730 - 2003 A Worldwide History comprises a text of over 130,000 words and over 1,400 labels illustrated. This large number of illustrations greatly enhanced the finished product. The book is the first detailed work to be published on this subject since "The Book of the Wine Label" by Professor Norman Penzer in 1947. It covers wine labels primarily of silver but includes many in a wide variety of other materials. It reviews the huge variety of shapes and designs, the craftsmen and women who made them, how they were made, the hallmarks and the names on labels. As the book's title states, it encompasses labels from many countries. These aspects, and others, have been covered by members of the Circle, all experts in the topics on which they write, and was edited by Professor John Salter. This is a high quality, hardbound book and is published by the Antique Collectors' Club in association with the Wine Label Circle. It is an essential volume for anyone with an interest in decanter labels, and of great interest also to those who may not be label collectors but have an interest in aspects of silver, wines and social history. The book normally retails at £85 (plus approx. £7 post & packing) but the Circle can offer this book at a SPECIAL PRICE OF £45 (plus £7 post & packing). Furthermore, new members can obtain it from the Circle at £40 (plus £7 post & packing).. To take advantage of these offers, please contact us by email Sauce Labels 1750 - 1950 by John Salter
